progress and the state of the story

Things are moving, even though it doesn't look like they are...

It's looking more and more like I'll be wrapped up with the bulk of the pages
by November 1st. How awesome is that?!?

For fun, here are some of the first sketches I ever made of Kurt back in 2003. There are of course, earlier sketches, but I seem to have lost the rest of them.

Also, here are some early, early, way too stinking early pages before I had a concrete idea of where I wanted the story to go. These pages were really from a story I was working on at the time almost in 2000 called "The Secret of Neodyne". It was out of working on this story that ShadowLands came to begin to form itself in my mind. It's interesting looking back at these...
The visual and thematic overtones remain largely similar but the story and characters are much much different.

Kurt Vagary: treasure hunter, adventurer, scoundrel, for-hire

Kurt Vagary is one of the main characters of ShadowLands. He scours the land for hidden treasures of the old-world and reselling them to the highest bidder.
His life takes a turn to a whole new adventure when his path crosses with Marisol Delgado in prison.
Their daring escape sets in motion events that will change both of their lives forever.

Comic Development Blog is GO!

Hey everyone, I wanted to let you in on the process of how I go about creating the comic book, ShadowLands. I'll be posting tutorials and progress shots of the story as I go along.

Hopefully you'll join me and comment on my posts!

For starters I have decided to redo the intro to the book to be a little more realistic and not as cartoony. The importance to this part of the story kind of requires it to be a little less animated looking so that is the look I'm going for.

Here's an in-progress remixed page one:
